Residency for Remote Workers

The D8 Digital Nomad Visa allows non-EU citizens to live in Portugal while working remotely for a company based outside of Portugal. It is one of the most straightforward visas for high-income remote workers.

There are two types: a Temporary Stay Visa (valid for up to 1 year, non-renewable towards citizenship) and a Residency Visa (valid for 2 years, renewable, leads to citizenship). This page focuses on the Residency pathway.
